Nerd Rage
I know I'm a little late in the game in hating on Office 2007. At work we use 2003 but that will soon change. At home, it's installed but I haven't used it much. Lately, I've been using it a lot. Prepare. for. some. nerd. rage.
I realize that Microsoft tried to reinvent the wheel. That they are supposedly "preparing for touch screens" so that's why they have implemented ridiculously huge buttons at the top of the screen. They lovingly refer to it as "the ribbon". I like to refer to it as "the thing that is going to confuse everyone at work and make my life hell". Tonight I tried to use "the ribbon" and I got the following problem pop up.
Before I dive into, let it be known that there might very well be an explanation for this error. But it sure as hell ain't logical! I am creating something for the wedding... and it needed to be in landscape format. So... I used "the ribbon" and clicked on the "Page Layout" tab and then on "Orientation". I proceeded to select Landscape and as you can see by the orange-ness of Landscape it IS selected. The page flipped inside the little window... and I thought everything was gravy.
It WAS all gravy until I decided to print and got this...
Hmm... not exactly what I was going for. I clicked on Page Setup (like you would in the old/good version) and saw the following.
Yeah, I know, right? That makes TOTAL sense. It is completely logical that the "ribbon" button wouldn't talk to the same setting in another window. I mean, when I clicked on the Orientation button and selected Landscape... I was just kidding. I didn't mean it. I really wanted my page to read "HAN" instead of "THANK". That'll do little crap software, that'll do.
Watermelon Pumpkin
Ian's mom, Maureen, had a watermelon sitting on her kitchen counter that no one seemed to want to eat. So Ian and I jokingly suggested she should carve it for Halloween. Meet Mr. Watermelkin.

Meet The Contenders - Cupcake Edition
Ian and I had our wedding cake consultation tonight at The Cake Box. We discussed the design of the cake - really happy what we came up with. Best part is... we left with 6 cupcakes to try some of the different flavors. Delicious. Our decision... or semi-decision has been made. Not telling.
Butterscotch
Lemon
Strawberry Vanilla
Red Velvet
Cookies n' Cream
Raspberry Vanilla
As we were leaving, Ian pointed this cake out to me. Pretty funny, given my recent awesome birthday present from my mom.
Update - Mission: Game Over
After being sidelined for more than a month with an illness... I've gotten back to this mission. Just a refresher - Mission: Game Over is my quest to complete We Cheer by the time the sequel comes out. The release date for it is November 3rd. So... 9 days to beat the rest of the game... I don't know. I'm going to try. I'll probably get the new one at a later date.
Below is what I have left to do. Mostly hard mode of some of the more advanced songs. Today I unlocked the last 2 songs... Footloose is my new favorite song to do.

Silly Facebook
I don't think I need to "reconnect" with him when he is sitting next to me on the couch. We're doing wedding stuff together.
Project Embroider - Finished
My simple teach-myself-to-embroider project is finished. I added my name at the top... I think it turned out pretty cute. I have a few more ideas to try... it's something to do as Ian and I sit here watching football. **Note to self: Needles are dangerous when you are screaming and jumping for some wide receiver to run faster.

Love To Learn
I'm teaching myself how to embroider.
Why am I doing this? I'm not sure exactly. I think I needed an idle hands project and this seem to be fun. No, I'm not going to cross stitch a portrait of a kitten sitting in a basket (I'm not 80 after all!). Maybe something along the lines of this...

Now With Video!! - Raiders Cheated!
Apparently they had an extra player on the field during the Eagles game.
"When they were lining up for a kickoff a pigeon walked around and in between two of their players. Then when they all started running he flew alongside them, and landed around the outside of the pack for containment."
That is seriously awesome.
After The HUGE REVELATION
Once I got my head straight yesterday I needed to get a handle on all of the stuff I still have left to do. Here's a short list... mainly for my use but feel free to read it.
- Ian's suit
- Ian's shoes - probably some custom Vans with matching ones for Coop
- Meet with Officiant
- Get Dress altered
- A few more details for the table
I think that's it. We meet with the Langdon Hall coordinators in December to go over the menu and the last few details. It's coming up quick!
I'm still not settled on my bouquet. I have discussed it with the florist and I like what he came up with. His idea was to take the pale pink roses that I wanted and combine them with hypercium - little green berry-looking things. Kind of like this picture:
But that seems very spring-like to me. He thinks it will add to the winter aspect. I don't know. All I know is... I wish I was brave enough (with a bigger budget) to have a fabric bouquet.

HUGE REVELATION
I am getting married.
Shocking right? Not so much. But it was this morning... The next few months at work include gearing up for a big meeting in January. My brain did not even connect the 2 events... Meeting in January + Wedding in January = Hmmm... could it be near the same dates???
Answer: Pretty much, yeah. I guess I keep everything separate in my mind. Someone pointed it out to me and I discovered that the week long meeting is the week of my wedding. My mind is funny sometimes.

Got My Craft On Today...
I did the crafty thing today and it was a lot of fun. Got some help from Ian too... (thank you from your mathematically challenged fiance). I would love to show you what I made but it's for the wedding. Here's a little sneak peek.
Did you know there has been a revolution in the world of stamps? I didn't either. Awhile back I went to Michael's to look at getting some stamps. I walked up and down the aisles for a bit looking for the standard wooden block stamps. I finally found a very small section of them. Confused I looked around and saw this huge display of clear "stuff". The "stuff" turned out to be this:
Sorry for the fuzzy/tilted to the right picture (I'm sure Amanda cringes when she looks at my photos). But as you can sort of see... the revolution has been a move to clear plastic stamps. You buy an acrylic block and attach the stamps to that. When you're done, you just peel the stamps off and wash them. A bonus to this is that you can look through the block and see the exact place you're going to stamp. My only problem is figuring out how to easily store the "pages" of stamps I now own.

What A Good Day!
Just a nice quiet evening home on my birthday... a cozy fake fire... some fall pumpkins and gourds... what's that other thing? OH, THAT'S JUST MY NEW COACH PURSE!!!! I've been wanting a good sturdy purse for awhile. I've checked out the Coach stores around here but I haven't seen anything I like. My mom and Erik just happened to pick out the most perfect purse for me. It's blue - big points there. It's the perfect size. I'm getting older and tend to carry more "stuff". It goes with a lot of the stuff I wear. The list goes on and on. So perfect. So awesome. Thanks Mommy!!

The Registry Conundrum
I've been getting a lot of questions about our wedding registry. I figured that with having a small wedding (parents and siblings only) there really wouldn't be a need for one. But a lot of friends and family have asked about it. The pickle that I'm in... is the fact that I live in Canada. I can't set up a registry on a US website to ship to my Canadian address. Even then, if a person in Canada wanted to purchase something, they wouldn't be able to use their billing addresses. It's the same issue with using a Canadian website. I've checked most of the stores like Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, etc. But that's not the whole problem.
To be honest, we really don't need much. We have purchased most of what we need because I moved here with mainly just clothes. Soon after I arrived, we moved into a big 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment. We have everything we would need. Most of the stuff that I could put on a registry would be labeled "nice to have". Like hurricane candle holders and items to outfit my future retro-ish kitchen. We are saving for a house and that's going to be our next big purchase.
So that's the little issue I'm dealing with. I think it's a bit tacky to ask for money. Our wedding annoucement will mostly just say "Feel free to send your best wishes". I don't know.

Guess Who Got Her Birthday Present Early
Ian caves easily. He asked me if I wanted my birthday present early as I was making breakfast this morning. Of course I said yes! He got me this wonderful locket from a seller on Etsy named Found + Made. The best part is a few of the words on the face of it... "love" and "To be"... <3

In Honor Of Our Engagement Anniversary...
I'm posting a video that Ian and I love... THE PAW-HOLDING OTTERS!!! If you don't say "AWWWW" you have a heart of stone. The best part is the end... they separate for a little bit.. but come back together.

Version 2.7 Of Me Comes Out Tuesday
I'm doing better than I was. Still fighting a bit of a cold and cough but much better overall. I'm happy to go back to work on Tuesday. Why not on Monday? Canada likes to be different and have their Thanksgiving in October. I know... craziness! Ian is all happy though that his mom has to make 2 turkey dinners in order to "celebrate my heritage". Haha.
Tomorrow is the anniversary of our engagement and on Tuesday version 2.7 of me comes out. I'm excited. Lots of upgrades are coming with this edition. Some bug fixes. I've successfully installed the Canadian Anti-Virus and in a few months, I'll undergo a name change.
Enough geek talk. The weather is gorgeous outside today. Very cloudy and rainy. I've set up an appointment to go cake tasting in a few weeks. (And I was just told something unofficially and off the record... my new work contract is a go!) Oh, glorious rainy weekend... YAY!

And By Getting Cold...
...I mean coooooooooooold. Well, cold for a California girl that is... It's going to be about 5 degrees celsius on my birthday. For those non-metric folks, that's a chilly 40 degrees fahrenheit. It's only the beginning of October! Imagine what's going to be like in January... say at a certain person's wedding........ (I secretly love this~).

Meet The Duckies Of October
I've really had to hold off on the decorating this year. I've decided it was probably smart to just put those dollars into the house fund instead of getting the hay bales and pumpkins that I really want to get! I did do one thing I couldn't pass up. Everyone who knows me probably knows I like rubber duckies. I have a small collection of them and decided, with Ian's permission =), to expand a little. Okay a lot. I believe my sister's comment was "Why do I have 9 dozen plastic ducks in my living room?". I'm going to have a monthly rotation of ducks in the guest bathroom. This month it's quite obvious that the ducks would be my Halloween set.
Oskar Loves His Ducky
This is my co-worker's adorable new dog Oskar. Last name is Meyer. That's right.... Oskar Meyer. He is the most adorable puppy and he has a ducky toy. He scores major points with me. I met him a couple months ago. Even surrounded by a bunch of women fawning over him he just laid in my arms and licked my face. I want one!
