This was Emma's second Halloween and she definitely got the concept. A long time ago I saw a picture of a toddler in a Hedgehog costume. I decided this year, against all reason, that I would make her costume. It wasn't too hard... brown hoodie and leggings... and a whole lot of felt! I think it turned out pretty good. :) Ian and Em would come home to drop off loot. She was clearly tired but she had the biggest smile and insisted on going back out. Her highlight the night was getting to visit a couple houses with our neighbor Brynn. Too cute!
We had exactly 100 Trick or Treaters come to the door. No general costume trends... maybe Pokemon... but there were only a couple of those.
I have been slowly working through Brittany Upgraded again. I dance. I yoga. I move more. But this was the best thing ever... this makes a really long, super sweaty workout even better. Love this girl.
Back in June, we attended the Farmer's Picnic at Steckle Homestead. Unfortunately, it was raining but they have a big barn to hold events. There was a nice sausage dinner and frozen yogurt. But Emma's highlight had to have been singing and dancing with Erick Traplin. :) Check out the video... especially the last clip... Ian got called up!
Uncle Drew is finishing up school and hasn't been available for board game weekends. This was taken back in April (holy crap the changes in Emma!). She still talks often about her favorite weekend visitor. :)
Emma is now in the Tot & Sometimes Me swim classes. Last weekend, we had our first class where I exited the pool. The instructor let us know that it was time. I was slightly confused.. unsure how Emma would react. I headed to the locker room but was hesitant to have her out of my sight. As I was changing, I heard a kid screaming their head off. It sounded exactly like Emma. I changed (feeling guilty) and headed to the gallery to watch with Ian and G-Ma. Turns out, Emma was totally cool. No crying. No screaming. Let the instructor hold her and float a bit.
Below is an extremely blurry picture but it's all the evidence I have of her fantastic day. So relieved!
That's right. I took pictures of Emma's 3rd haircut appointment... mainly because it distracted her or got her to bend her head down. We didn't change her hairstyle, just continued to trim up the back to remove the bad layering. Both of these pictures accurately show her general confusion. Curls for days! :)
G-Ma heading back to Virginia today but we will see her again in 3 weeks! Yaaay!
Photographic evidence that my mom had the vacuum out with 15 minutes of arriving - no joke.
Emma decided that she would start LOVING strawberries while my mom was here.
We visited Anna Mae's in Millbank... it was totally shocking and disorienting. They have been through a major renovation that has just opened. It is gorgeous!
Afterwards, we headed to Herrle's for fresh corn. G-Ma got Emma to be a sheep. :)
My cool as a cucumber kid... I was pretty sure she would be how she always is in new situations... quiet but calm. She did almost everything they asked of her except lay back on the table. So she had her visit sitting up. :)
Emma has started going to swimming lessons again. I am still in the pool with her but will be handing her off the instructor more and more. She seemed perfectly comfortable with the teacher so hopefully I get to exit the class soon. Here we are trying to take just one good picture before class...
We decided Emma was ready to visit her favorite animal... we took her to the Toronto Zoo to see the baby pandas! There's a video at the end but here are some highlights.
Not sure what is happening here.. but she was psyched to go... :)
Fun Fact: The twin pandas were born on my 33rd birthday.
Pretty much sums up Emma's reaction. *Joy*
Psst.. there are 2 baby pandas napping there.. plus the mum.
We spotted this little red panda - such a sweet face...
Our favorite part of the visit... A peacock walked by Emma and she was like... what the...
This bird dive-bombed Emma. Lol.
This is a giant version of the panda G-Ma gave Emma. Thankfully, Emma didn't see it, she had passed out.
